Travel by Train to Sihanouk Ville

General Overview: I started doing my small research because of one my friends called me that he wish to travel by train someday and asked me to get some information about trip or/and services while I was travelling from Phnom Penh to Shihanouk Ville for my five-day holiday. Before my friend call I did not intend to do this small research I thought I just travelled for relaxing my stress from work that I have been working for more than 20 years. Then, I started noting my information by asking to key agents and accessing to some information on Google. History: Railway service has started, with new tracks and trains from SihanoukVille to Kampot, Phnom Penh and beyond. In the decades 1990s passengers used to be able to sit on the roof with a case of beer and take a 12 tour through the jungle to Phnom Penh, but no more. We'll all be happy (except for truck drivers) when the railway is fully functional, so thousands of trucks on Route 4 can be replaced with a daily run to the big city. Before decade 2016, At a seminar in Phnom Penh, Jakarta-based Economic Research Insti¬tute for Asean and East Asia (ERIA) presented re¬search showing that as much as $16 billion of investment is needed in Cambodia over the next decade if the country’s infrastructure is to keep up with the pace of economic growth. regional think tank. On the 21 May 2013, the occupants of 90 Phnom Penh households whose homes were partially or completely dismantled to make way for the Railway Rehabilitation Project partly funded by the ADB have demanded the bank offer them fair compensation.

The Phnom Post […] Foreign Affairs Minister Hor Namhong met with the ADB’s appointed country director. The government asked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to continue to help Cambodia’s troubled railway rehabilitation project, which is in desperate need of more funding in order to complete the network’s northern line. The warning to the umbrella group of 88 NGOs had been issued over a letter sent last year to the president. NGO Forum confirmed yesterday it had received a “warning letter” from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over its advocacy on behalf of communities affected by a railway rehabilitation project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and AusAID.
